Verso text[]
"Hi, I'm Dorothy Ann, one of the kids in Ms. Frizzle's class. When we started learning about volcanoes, I thought we'd just be studying them in books -- but Ms. Frizzle had other ideas. She took us all the way to Hawaii, where we waded through lava and saw a real volcano blow its top. We had a great time -- even though the trip was sometimes almost too hot to handle! One thing's for sure: This was one explosive adventure that none of us will ever forget!"
Trivia[]
- It was illustrated by recurring guest illustrator Jon Speirs, who also worked on other Science Chapter Books and original series TV tie-ins. His MSB art style is known for the wavy, Squigglevision-like lineart and often mixes elements of Bruce Degen's style with the Nelvana style.
- In the TV series, Hawaii is visited in “In the Swim” and “The Frizz Connection,” but the reasons for going there in these episodes are different. This book also marks the first appearance of this recurring field trip location.
