The Moon is what orbits around Earth, the third planet from the sun that supports life, and is where the class lands on their tour of the solar system in The Magic School Bus book, The Magic School Bus Lost in the Solar System. It also made several appearances in some episodes of The Magic School Bus TV series, and is one of the places in the solar system players could choose to fly to and land on in the PC game, The Magic School Bus Explores the Solar System. Ms. Frizzle and her class also land on the moon along with Phoebe's father, Mr. Cox, in the Scholastic Reader book, The Magic School Bus Takes a Moonwalk. The Scholastic readers are not canon with the TV show saga.
In the franchise[]
In the book, The Magic School Bus Lost in the Solar System, the Moon was Ms. Frizzle, Liz and her class' first stop.
In Out of This World, when flying towards Saturn to find a giant asteroid that Dorothy Ann discovered is going to crash into Walkerville Elementary School, the bus gets pulled off course, causing them to fly straight towards the Moon. The class fear they're going to crash onto the Moon, causing Carlos to say, "Forget the Man in the Moon, we're going to be the kids in the Moon!". Keesha knows they were heading towards Saturn and not the Moon and wonders what changed they're path. When Arnold says the Moon is so much bigger than they are, Dorothy Ann finds out why they got pulled off course, because they were getting pulled in by the Moon's gravity, since it's bigger than them. Liz then pushes a button causing the bus to activate it thrusters and the bus steers away from the Moon and starts to fly around it. Ms. Frizzle then tells the class they're orbiting in what's known as a parking orbit. The bus then flies away from the Moon and they start to continue there search for the asteroid Dorothy Ann discovered.
In Sees Stars, when Ms. Frizzle and the class blast off into space to go star shopping to find a star to buy for Dorothy Ann on her birthday, they fly past the Moon very quickly, causing Wanda to say, "I mean, there goes the Moon.". Ralphie realizes they're going extremely fast since they traveled from Earth to the Moon in less than a minute.
In Gains Weight, Wanda tells Phoebe in order to get less gravity she'll have to go to the Moon. Arnold then says that they don't have time to go to the Moon, but Ms. Frizzle asks Arnold if she said they're going there, which he knows she didn't. Ms. Frizzle, Liz and the class then go to the bus and blast off on their field trip to learn more about gravity. Instead of going to the Moon, Ms. Frizzle turns the bus into their own planet with gravity they control.
In In the Zone, the moon is mentioned in the song that brings the Bus back to life.
The Magic School Bus Explores the Solar System[]
The Moon could be one of the places in the solar system that the players could click on to fly to and land on. On the Moon, the player controls Phoebe there while searching for the Frizzle Token, which will give the player a clue of which planet or moon she's on. Phoebe also does her report on the Moon.
The Magic School Bus Takes a Moonwalk[]
In the Scholastic Reader book, Ms. Frizzle and Liz take her class, and Phoebe's father, Mr. Cox (which is not canon with the original/Rides Again TV series) up to the Moon to explore it and learn all about it.
