The Magic School Bus and the Science Fair Expedition is the eleventh book in the main series. It was the first one after Ms. Frizzle's Adventures, and the first of the main series proper in the 2000s and 21st century.
It was published on August 1, 2006 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the book series.
Plot[]
The students are agonizing over the upcoming science fair. A field trip to the nearby science museum provides inspiration and in the galleries. They discover a model school bus which conveys them back in time where they meet famous scientists such as Galileo and the Curies and witness pivotal discoveries.

This book is the first one in the original series to include flat-panel monitors when it comes to computers.
Bruce Degen uses a new art style starting with this book. It carries over to its sequels.
This book was released in the United States twenty years after the first one.
If the Ms. Frizzle's Adventures subseries from after Explores the Senses is not counted, this is the first 21st-century main series book.
This is the second book to feature the character versions of Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen, with the first being And the Electric Field Trip. Cole and Degen are workers at Jo's Diner in the previously mentioned book.
This is the first book to have its official modern title logo art “The Magic School Bus” (current). Then soon later, the 10 books before this one would have their previous modern logo changed to this one, but not before they have a rectangular stretched multi-colored background across the book cover supporting the title logo to make it stand out.
