The Magic School Bus: Mighty Explorers (shortened to Mighty Explorers, ME, or TMSBME) will be a Canadian-American computer-animated television series produced by 9 Story and Scholastic Entertainment, and the third entry in The Magic School Bus television franchise. Set in a continuity different from the main series, it follows Ms. Frizzle, Liz, and a new set of students as they take field trips aboard Albie, the name of the Magic School Bus. It was announced in March 2024 in a KidScreen article[1] and formally revealed on October 17, 2024.
It was preceded by The Magic School Bus Rides Again, also produced by 9 Story.
Trivia[]
- Mighty Explorers will possibly bring about a fourth generation of The Magic School Bus brand, following the 1986 books, the 1994 TV series, and The Magic School Bus Rides Again.
- If possible, this show might include the one-hundredth episode as a whole.
- TMSBME will be the second time the franchise is in CGI, after the third season of Rides Again. This time, it will be fully in CGI and not a mixture of CGI and 2D animation like the latter had.
- It is possible that S3 of Rides Again was used as a prototype for this series' CGI animation.
- This will also be the first time in the franchise that one of the Frizzles, Liz, and the class will be animated in CGI instead of 2D alongside the Bus.
- The 1994–2017 MSB wordmark is reused for the series logo.
- It was announced back in March 2024 in a KidScreen article.
- This and the movie will be the first MSB projects after the Scholastic purchase of 9 Story in 2024, and the franchise's first entirely new projects since the death of Joanna Cole in 2020.
- Unlike its predessors, the series will feature several changes.[2]
- The series will not be canon.
- The Magic School Bus will now talk in this series, like the original Liz did in the games. It also has a name, Albie.
- The series will now be aimed at preschoolers rather than school-aged children.
- The show will center on Lily, Wyatt, and Benny, three six-year-olds dubbed the Mighty Explorers.
