Tennelli family restaurant

The Tennelli family restaurant is the field trip location of the episode “The Good, the Bad, and the Gnocchi”. It is an Italian restaurant in Walkerville owned by Ralphie’s dad, who doesn’t appear in the episode. It is renowned in Walkerville for its huge model Western worlds made entirely out of pasta (as a reference to the term "spaghetti Western", the term for Italian-produced Westerns, such as this episode's namesake), where the kids shrink to fit on one of these worlds and learn about simple machines as they race across the pasta, themselves split up into two teams each led by a Ramón brother. Their ultimate goal is to climb to the top of Ol' Spaghetti, the highest peak in the restaurant, and claim a cannoli dubbed "the Gold." The spaghetti western world the kids visited was ultimately eaten by Noodles.

Trivia[]

General[]

  • The Tennelli family restaurant is the second eatery to be the location of a Shrinkerscope-based field trip. The first is the bakery, visited in “Gets Ready, Set, Dough.”
    • This is also the first and only culinary field trip other than Arnold’s digestive system where using the Shrinkerscope was intentional and not due to technical difficulties.

Allusions[]

  • Super Mario — The spaghetti western world is reminiscent of the Mario franchise’s habit of levels made entirely out of food. Examples from before and after this episode are Choco Island, Choco Mountain, and Cheese Land from the Mario Kart games, Layer-Cake Desert from New Super Mario Bros. U, the Luncheon Kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey, and the Freezer and Feast Layers from Donkey Kong Bananza.
