MagicWare is a special software used by the three MagicWare vehicles (The Magic School Bus, the Magic Spanish Galleon, and the Magic Motorbike) that powers their namesake "magic" in the canon of the 1994-1997 series and The Magic School Bus Rides Again.

In the thirteen original books, magic gasoline is used instead for the Bus's supernatural abilities.

Powers/abilities[]

  • Shapeshifting - A device called the Mesmerglober (spelled Mesmerglobber in the original series) allows a vehicle to change its shape. On the Magic School Bus, the Mesmerglober is mainly activated through a red/gray lever that is found under the touchscreen on the dashboard.
    • In the episode Going Batty, Ralphie transformed himself and his classmates into bats. This episode revealed that the Bus is also able to transform its passengers, and this has been a recurring trend in later episodes of the shows.
  • Size manipulation - The vehicles can change their size. The devices that control this feature are the Shrinkerscope (for shrinkage), and the Bigifier (for enlargement, known as the Enormomometer prior to "Kids in Space"). The Bike does not have a pre-installed Shrinkerscope. Instead, Professor Frizzle and Goldie had to attach one to it themselves in the producer segment for The Magnetic Mambo.
  • Body possession - During its glitch in In the Zone, the radio allowed the Bus to possess the body of Maven and perform a song of hers through her.
  • Projection - The Bus and Motorbike can convert into non-physical form as well, such as digital files (Ghost Farm's producer segment) or rays of light (Makes a Rainbow).
    • While it could be argued that this ability has a separate name, in the producer segment of Rocks and Rolls, the bus itself partially exits a pre-recorded scene in order to freeze Liz's water, an act that shatters the surrounding jar. As such, it could also be argued that this was a form of projection.
