Joanna Cole was the author of the first thirteen books of The Magic School Bus. Along with Bruce Degen, she revolutionized grade-school science topics. The Magic School Bus series debuted as a book series written by her and illustrated by Degen, and the book became increasingly popular following the introduction of The Magic School Bus (1994) and its sequel, The Magic School Bus Rides Again.
On July 12, 2020, Cole died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (a type of Lung Disease).[1] The Cole Specials are dedicated to her.
