| Arnold | Phew! Thank goodness! I was afraid of what I might find when I got here. Something must have changed over the summer. |
| Keesha | Nope, nothing different, except Jyoti, of course. (to Jyoti) Arnold's not big on change. |
| Arnold | But everything's exactly like it was when we left last year. Come on, Jyoti! Welcome to your first day; I'll show you around. |
| Arnold gives Jyoti a tour through the classroom. | |
| Jyoti | Exciting. But, from what you guys said, I thought everything would be more... "magical". |
| Arnold | Oh, don't worry, it will be. But first: the normal stuff, like how everyone sits in the same spot every class, and how we all have jobs. It's a delicate balance. |
| Cut to Wanda and Dorothy Ann. | |
| Arnold | Wanda and DA handle the brain builders and Ralphie annoys the Skeleton. |
| Ralphie grabs the Skeleton's arm. | |
| Ralphie | Yeah, but he never gets rattled! |
| Jyoti chuckles. | |
| Arnold | And, of course, I handle the worrying for all of us. |
| Jyoti | Cool! It's like you have your own balanced ecosystem. |
| Dorothy Ann | According to my research, you're right. An ecosystem is— |
| Ralphie | (interrupting Dorothy Ann) Yep. A community of plants and animals, all with a role to play. |
| Dorothy Ann | How did you know that? |
| Ralphie | An old pizza box I left under my bed. My mom called it the world's smelliest biome. |
| Jyoti | So, what about me? Where do I fit in? |
| Arnold | Don't know yet, but I hope we'll find out before the day's over. Here - you can have Phoebe's old seat; she went back to her old school. |
| Ms. Frizzle parks the Bus at school. | |
| Ralphie | There she is! |
| Keesha | Get ready, everybody! |
| Jyoti | That's awesome. |
| Arnold | Told ya. Now, get ready for the Frizz and her mug in...14.2 seconds! |

| Arnold dusts off the spot on Ms. Frizzle's desk where the mug is supposed to go. | |
| Arnold | In three, two, one! (He stares at his watch, confused.) That's weird, one second late. |
| Ms. Fiona Frizzle enters the room through the roof. | |
| All | Ms. Frizzle! |
| Arnold | Hi, Ms. (He gasps, then cleans his glasses.). You're not Ms. Frizzle! |
| Ms. Frizzle | Oh, but I am, Arnold. And may I just say, I'm so glad you didn't stay home today. |
| Liz rummages inside a yellow box and finds a portable telescope. | |
| Ms. Frizzle | Hey, Tim, love your artwork. Wanda, how was your summer at the animal rescue? Keesha, love the outfit, and Jyoti, welcome to your first day! |
| Liz digs into the box again and picks up a heavy ukulele. She strums a chord on it and then falls down. | |
| Ms. Frizzle | Ralphie, I see you've had oatmeal this morning. You're wearing it! |
