Carmen is one of the original 19 students in the class. She was introduced in the 1989 book, The Magic School Bus Inside the Human Body, and is exclusive to the book series. She also appeared in "Goes on Air," where she is in Ms. Rivers' class.
Appearance[]
Carmen appears as either Hispanic or Southeast Asian descent with dark black hair. She wears a rose colored blouse with a teal color skirt.
Later in the series she wears a light pink t-shirt.

Trivia[]
- Though unconfirmed at present, she appears to be of mixed Hispanic-Asian extraction; her name implies Hispanic descent (like Carlos and John), while her appearance implies Eastern Asian descent (like Wanda and Michael).
- A student in Ms. Rivers' class (voiced by Ruby Smith-Merovitz) bears a strong resemblance to her at the start of the original series episode "Goes on Air". If this is confirmed to be her, this would make her one of few book-only students, along with Michael, to make a cameo in the mainstream canon.
